Excellent service! I've been coming to University Tire off/on for at least 10 years; recently, we started going to another mechanic who is closer to home. University Tire is not only convenient in regards to their proximity to my work, but their work has been exceptional! Whenever I go to them, they have been very thorough with explaining the work they need to get done (regarding the concern I brought to their attention), and don't try to up-sell me on additional stuff. Anyhow, 2 weeks ago, my husband took the car to the other mechanic that's closer to home. They replaced the car's original struts and called it a day. Then we noticed something just wasn't right with the car. I stopped at University Tire before going to work last week and spoke to John about a couple of concerns I had about the car. He asked me to leave my car so they could figure out what could be going on. A couple of hours later, John called me and informed me of the repairs that needed to happen. Based on the high mileage (almost 200,000 miles) on the 11-yr old car, the other mechanic SHOULD HAVE replaced the strut mounts when they replaced the struts...but didn't. Thanks, former mechanic. You have been officially been fired. HUGE THANKS TO JOHN, STEVE, and their team at University Tire! John has been always been very helpful with explaining the repairs needed and ensuring his team completes the repairs at the date/time stated. While I have generally interacted with John, Steve has assisted me as well. Both gentlemen are professional and very informative - they help me with determining which repairs are urgent/safety issue versus a maintenance issue. Thank you University Tire!!!

Steve was super delightful to work with regarding my car that needed maintenance. He sent me pictures and costs of everything that needed repaired and was honest about the necessity of each repair. The staff was also very friendly whenever I called. My car is working just great and I plan on using University Tire and Auto from now on! I highly recommend them.

Great service here. Have been twice already and each time the estimate and ultimate prices are reasonable. The best part about this place is that they get you out in about 24 hrs or less. I had some major repairs on my shocks and they were done in about 16 hrs. They do try to upsell you but can't fault them for running a business.

Best service for your money hands down! They aren't in the business to make a quick buck off those who don't know much about cars! They take the time to explain what's going on and really listen to what you need/want. This place is safe for girls to take their car and not get tricked into spending money due to lack of knowledge! They are conveniently located too which is always a plus! Typically busy so a call ahead is suggested!

Walked in unanounced with no appointment, explaining that I had to drive to Vegas that day. They repaired my tire in an hour and was on my way. Polite, kind and professional, if I can do more business with these folks, I will!! Oh, and since they are close to USC, FIGHT ON UTSA!!

Driving our son from Maine to Los Angeles for a graduate program at USC, and leaving our car for him, I knew that I had to secure a nearby facility for potential auto service, one that I felt comfortable with. After an internet search, I settled on University; and after meeting and talking with John, I was very happy I did so. Although the car didn't have any issues, a problem was found that I was actually aware of--I was pleased that the mechanic spotted it. I'm comfortable knowing that if my son does need any work done on our vehicle, University will be the place to go. A pleasure chatting with you, John!

Great place for oil changes. Quick and reasonably priced. Never spent over an hour waiting without an appt. Just recently had my radiator and heater core fixed. 400 miles and three weeks later my car is running efficiently. Steve, the technician, was a great help and recommended what was needed. John, the owner, is customer friendly. A few days after, a lady named Mercedez followed up with a phone call to ensure everything was in good order.

I go here to take work vehicles and personal vehicles here when I need to have maintenance done. For this review, I'll talk about my personal car. My first experience is taking my car for an alignment. Turned out great. Next one was to get new tires for a newer car. Kept their price quote and had the work done. Third experience was for a simple oil change. Again, considering it was a full synthetic change (which all shops charge more for) with Mobil 1 it wasn't a bad price. I don't know if I'd go here for any sort of "emergency" work but I wouldn't take it anywhere for heavy duty stuff except for my pops (who's been a mechanic for over 30 years and is master certified with GM) but anything for tires, oil, or other things that are relatively simple but you can't do on your own then I would definitely keep taking my car here. The crew is great. To the other reviews that were unsatisfied with having to leave their cars...keep in mind that in order to diagnose a problem that they have to recreate it. Some chains will keep a diagnosis free...if you allow them to do repairs afterwards but you'd have to pay for it afterwards. I have never felt like they're shady. I will keep taking my car as long as I can drop it off and walk to work nearby. Thanks guys!
